A family business built on work people can point at years later

N Monk Plumbing & Heating is Neil and Sam. Thirty-seven years in the trade means Neil has seen most of what Essex and east Hertfordshire housing stock can throw at a heating system, from Victorian cottages with pipework buried in odd places to new-build en-suites that were never set out properly. Sam came through the same route, with an NVQ and hands-on work rather than a weekend course.

We help homeowners who want the job finished properly once, not patched up repeatedly. That usually means someone planning a bathroom or en-suite, replacing a boiler or hot water cylinder, or putting in a full heating system, the kind of work where a poor install costs far more to undo than it cost to fit.

Our specialism is bathroom and heating installation. Because we do the plumbing, the gas work and the tiling ourselves, the whole job runs to one schedule and one standard. There is no tiler waiting on a plumber, and nobody to blame if something is not right, it is ours to put right.

We work across Epping, Harlow, Chelmsford, Bishops Stortford, Braintree, Dunmow, Saffron Walden, Ware and Broxbourne, plus the villages between them. Being a small local team is deliberate: we would rather do fewer jobs well and still be the people you call in five years.
